Design Works

Chemical Mixology

The objective of this pairing book was to think outside of the box and design a unique combination
to design for, bringing me to combine chemical concoctions with societies most powerful desires.
The direction I took was from the perspective of a mad scientist, experimenting on implied subjects with annotations of detrimental side effects. Each chemical reaction is a separate experiment that is recorded following the scientific method, with a question, hypothesis, and conclusion. The project significantly improved my photoshop abilities, as each image required extensive finesse and additional effects.

Editorial, photography, photo editing

The final design was made to be disorganized and messy, depicting the true
nature of a mad scientist.

Making the chemical reactions to be photographed would have been a harder task than I was capable, so I moved forward with editing the photos instead. I focused
on the smoke, sparks, and bubbling of the reactions to enhance the appearance
and drama.

Before designing, I began with refining my design direction, figuring out how I will approach the theme. After I decided to take the perspective of a mad scientist,
I was able to start photographing the base for the mixtures.

My process of creating this pairing book started with concepting pairings. I ideated 7 pairings, my favourites being Last Call, Wellness Shot, Renaissance, and Chemical Reactions. Chemical reactions being my final decision
